Tracking Down Process Suspension Issue

Hey folks. Development is slow currently, as I’ve got most everything working how I want it to and the code signing certificate process is mainly what is standing between me and a stable version 1.0 release.

However, I ran into an issue on a single machine that I’ve been trying to figure out.

On one machine, the initialization script is suspended by Windows every time it is run. The only way to get it going again is to run Resource Monitor (perfmon.exe /res), right click on the process, and hit resume. At first I thought it was a power options setting, but this is a desktop; the issue also persisted after changing the power profile to ‘Best Performance,’ so I am genuinely flabbergasted.

If anyone else is using Blackstar and experiencing this issue, please email me at [email protected], I would love to help figure out what is causing this.

edit: Less than an hour after initially posting this, I found the root cause. A rogue antivirus program called “Segurazo” was halting MOST Windows processes, maybe because I disabled everything through MSCONFIG during the diagnostic. Fortunately, these rogue AV programs are becoming less and less common, so I’m hopeful this will not be a huge concern in the future.
